Shraddah in traditional Hindu manner:
For the first 10 days after death, the following mantras should be chanted to help the soul pass higher:
OM NAMO NARAYANAYA
OM SRI RAMA JAI RAMA JAYA JAYA RAMA.
This should be done daily at one's altar, with a light and a garland on the photo of Namadeva Acharya, if possible. Chant as much as you are able to assist him.
In addition to the shraddah which Satyabhama will perform at the Gayatri Temple in Oregon on October 3rd at 2 pm PDT, the following services will be held:
On October 3, at 4 pm EDT, Bharata (Bill Barry), Rajeshwari (Gretchen Carmel) and other students of Namadeva will perform a shraddah for him at The Yoga Space, 82 Washington St., in Keene, New Hampshire. Anyone in the Northeast who has been touched by Namadeva's teachings is welcome to attend and participate.
On October 11 at 9-10:30 pm EDT, our gurus' son, Muralidhar, will do the traditional shraddah for Namadeva Acharya.
Please tune in at the same time, adjusted for time zones, and chant the shraddah with Murali or chant the mantras above.

Vaikunta Sama-aradhana on October 13th:
This ceremony is vimukti - for freedom for Namadeva from his astral body
Do a semi fast, by avoiding rice, garlic, onions, drinking only water. Eat simple meals only, like salad.
In the evening invite your friends and do a simple service with flowers and water bathing. Garland a photo of Namadeva Acharya and have it present; do Namaskar but no arati to Vishnu/Lakshmi or Panduranga/Rukmini images, then feed the guests some of Namadeva Acharya's favorite foods: idly & sambar, popcorn, rice & dal, ice cream, chocolate. |
